A full fledged civil war has now engulfed Eastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian government launched a deadly attack with helicopters and fighter jets against separatist rebels in Donetsk. The Financial Times reported militias from Chechnya have entered the country to fight along with the pro-russian rebels. Meanwhile Vladimir Putin urged Kiev to halt its offensive against the separatists' strongholds in the east.
Financial markets have so far remained unfazed despite combats intensifying in eastern Ukraine.
